Tried to do that.

Ratio on my computer 0.2
Ratio on torrent site 0.2

Program is running but transmission is not connecting to the Proxy.

Are you shure transmission 2.41 have Proxy support?
This option wasn't present on my settings.json file. I had to add it there.

I don't see that proxy support was removed https://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/Changes
We have default transmission version for test on freebsd: 2.13 (11501). Its very strange that it doesn't connect to TRK. I didn't find proxy settings too on default settings.json and we had to add these settings ourself. Many Mac users use Vuze or Transmission with TRK because uTorrent for Mac doesn't support proxies.

How did you guys installed the java runtime under FreeBSD?

I'm running transmission and torrentratiokeeper under the same user transmission uses.
Everything seens to be OK.
I noticed one thing. I can't connect to the Proxy from another machine. And FreeBSD firewall is off.

But I managed to connect via telnet using localhost.

Guess there's something to do with that...

There are 3 java ports: http://www.freebsd.org/java/install.html
We've installed "OpenJDK on FreeBSD":

Code: Select all

sudo pkg_add -r openjdk6
cd /usr/ports/java/openjdk6
sudo make install clean
If you have any problems during building, need to update ports:

Code: Select all

sudo portupgrade -ri nspr
Torrent Ratio Keeper refuses connections from other PCs, because TRK is not open http proxy :)
I think your transmission doesn't connect to TRK because torrent client cannot seed or leech without peers. If your torrent tracker allows DHT then transmission will work fine, but ratio will stay same (http is blocked by TRK, which is not happen).

Installed that way the openjdk. Using FreeBSD 8.2

But I remember to have the same problem under linux after I updated transmission.

usually my torrents on the site had higher ratios than on the torrent client. So that's what I use to check. Been seeding the whole week and the ratio on client and site are the same.

I cant build ratio with my upload connection. Have 20Mbit download and less than 1Mbit upload.
This computer used to run linux, after that windows now I need to run FreeBSD because of the ZFS.

Can you try to install default FreeBSD's transmission port 2.13 please?

Changed from FreeBSD to Linux Ubuntu 11.10

Installed OpenJDK-headless version and the default transmission that comes with Ubuntu versio 2.33

Been seeding since yesterday and nothing happened.
Tried to run it as root, as the same transmission user. I can telnet to the app.

I can only blame transmission for that.

Will study the possibility of another torrent client. Deluge, Torrentflux or vuze.

We've found that transmission\s developers removed proxy support.

Our admin uses Vuze with TRK on Linux and Mac. It works great. Deluge has proxy settings too. I'm not sure about torrentflux. We've never used it before.
